Rent- A- Book and Help Give A New Smile

The start of the new semester would always bring mixed emotions towards college students, their parents, teachers and the community in general. The opening of the college semester indicates added budget and expenses on tuition fees, book expenses and other miscellaneous expenditures. Ideas on how to save on these expenses are mostly welcome by parents and students as well.

While the costs on the tuition fees are fixed, college students could chose to rent their books instead of buying them. Campus Book Rentals are the most convenient and practical way of acquiring the books any student needs for the particular semester. Convenient; in the sense that you won’t need to wait in long lines or queues of bookstores just to have the books you need. It is said to be practical because of the savings that you may get from it. Renting textbooks allows you to save as much as 40-90% off the bookstore prices and you also get to enjoy flexible renting periods depending on your need. You may receive and return the books that were rented free of shipping cost from your end.

If the book rental concept is a little bit vague to you, you may start with renting just one book to be familiar with the process and how it usually works. With each textbook that you rent, you will get to help the children from Operation Smile (Children's charity for cleft lip and other facial deformities). So with just one book, you are able to give a child a new smile and a new hope to have a brighter future. This is like hitting two birds with one stone, right?

Advantages of book rentals also include the convenience of saving a bookshelf space in your home or in the campus dormitory plus the fact that you will only be using the particular book once in your college life. As a student, only you can decide whether to rent or buy the textbooks you need. You may do so whatever option works for you but generally the best option is to really rent college textbooks as it offers more advantage over buying new ones.

  1. Aww that's so nice! I'm glad there are still people trying to help charities!
College books are very expensive, so if I was to get one, I'll definitely just rent it!

  2. A few months back, I had the chance to discover this program, too. :)

  3. It's a lot cheaper and space saving after the term for book rentals instead of buying books. This is also a good concept since it goes to such a good cause.

  4. How come there was nothing like this when I was in college? I could have saved a ton of money. Glad to know book rentals are now available today. Thanks for sharing Tess! :)

  5. nice concept! helping two sets of people in one! students and charities :)

  6. I think this is a very nice idea! I think parents will save a lot of money, there's lesser trees involve to print out books and we can help out the environment ; )

  7. We used to borrow books from our seniors, this is even better than renting a book. ;-) And, with all the old textbooks stacked here at home, I'd definitely go for book rental as a more economical and environment-friendly alternative, esp. it also helps a charity project.

  8. Corporate social responsibility is one thing I always look for when I try to support a company with any of their product or services. We just don't want companies who just want money for their pockets but someone who really reach out to people who have disabilities or those who are in dire financial need. We are in the book sector, too, and we strike to share as much as we can. Great post! - Jules of BookGator
