No Follow was originally designed to stop comment spam in blogs. No Follow simply tells the search engine spiders that the link with the '"No Follow" attribute should not be followed.
<a href="http://www.example.com/" rel="nofollow">Link text</a>
Do Follow is the opposite of No Follow. This means that when you leave a comment, it will appear on search engines as a backlink. It is a great way to increase traffic, obtain backlinks and your Google page rank.
Turning your blog into 'Do Follow is a nice way to share some link juice with those who took the time to comment in your blog .They know they have something in returns which is the backlink. It is also one way of saying "Thank you" to them.

wow.. i was just thinking of how to do that.. thanks for the input! do i need to delete for backlink as well?
ReplyDeleteWhat if I'm using disqus Miss Tess? I can still put the plugin and make my blog a Do follow?
ReplyDeletesorry ,alam yang discuss .
DeleteDisquss comments are No follow. I think, you can't make the comment section do follow when using disquss comments. But, you can make other links do follow on your blog.
DeleteThanks for this Ms. Tess. I was wondering about what those terms meant when I saw people asking about them at FBW. Now I know. I'll see what I can do about this on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteoo ,madali lang yan.edit template lang at hanpin yung link.
DeleteDoFollow blogs unite! :D
ReplyDeletewonderful guide Ms. Tess.. everyone can do this....thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteMy blogs are all do-follow too since i started blogging :), nice tutorial sis :)
ReplyDeletethank you sis.
DeleteI'm still considering the options.. Meron din daw kasing disadvantages yung pagkakaroon ng do-follow blogs. But I'm really thinking of converting mine. hehe.. Thanks for this, ms tess..
ReplyDeleteNot all search engines recognize No Follow. It was a Google creation, and some of the big search engines put some merit and go by some or all of the No Follow rules.
DeleteNice and easy step by step tutorials..Great!
ReplyDeleteI've already updated my blog to "dofollow" when I knew it from Sir Ed Zafra. I wanted to share what my blog has to fellow bloggers who left a comment in it. However, it is sad to note, that there are comments which are just as "invalid" as it is. like "napadaan lang po!", "nice!", "thanks for sharing". Well, we have no choice if these "no sense" comments are abounding, but to delete them... :((
ReplyDeleteJust a reaction from Gil Camporazo of RandomThoughts!
This is very helpful I am removing my no follow link right now!

I got curious about the subject of this blog so I checked the attributes of the commenters' blogs. I was a bit surprised to find that only one (that of Boris) has DoFollow attribute and it even has high PR3 at that. I admire the blog for its setting.
ReplyDeleteIn my case, I have two (2) blogs with PR3 that I set to have DoFollow attributes after 10 comments by a reader. I also have to close my blog posts to comments after 30 days to prevent spam comments.
I actually did this yesterday.. :) I haven't done tons of research about the pros and cons of do follow vs no follow system though.
ReplyDeleteWow thanks for this tutorial Ms Tess will try it out! ;-)
ReplyDeletewow I didn't know about this, thanks for sharing this
ReplyDeleteI just did this a while ago. I wasn't aware how DoFollow works before. I just learned it here. Thanks for sharing Miss Tess! :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder how sir Eds checking on who is do follow or not
ReplyDeleteoo nga.how?
DeleteThank you so much for this. Just changed my blog to a dofollow :)
ReplyDeleteI use the DISQUS comment system, I wonder if I can change it to a dofollow? Thanks for this post!
ReplyDeleteI just tried this one out... I am not sure if it worked... crossing my fingers that it did :)
ReplyDeleteI want to answer questions regarding about disquss.
ReplyDeleteFor those bloggers who uses disquss comments. Sorry, it was No follow. I think you can't change it's properties.
But, you can do follow other links. Like footer, header, widget sidebar, etc.
Hope this might help. =)
This tip is for blogspot blogs only right? What about wordpress blogs? There might be a plugin to do just that.
