This simple savings plan went viral last year on Facebook, I have never seen anything like it and decided to give it a try come January 2014. The 52-Week Money Challenge have been started by Kassondra Perry-Moreland, in her Facebook group and why she started it.
“I am a single parent, and I have worked at my job for 22 years. I just worked 53 hours alone in this payperiod and do this all of the time. I decided that this is the year that I will have something to show for working all of those hours instead of just bills left over at the end of the year.I work better if I am held accountable, even in my personal life, so I decided to see how many of my friends would be honest and say they needed help with a structured savings plan, and even if they don’t would they help me. I had no idea that it wold turn into what it has in just the last two hours."
The budget plan looks easy on the first few months but I think I can make it till December. A large number of people want to save but are dealing with the reality of tight budgets. It's pretty simple, beginning with Week #1, the saving will be $28 but it all depends on you. If you find yourself with extra cash, add it to the pot and you will end up with more than the $1378 total by the end of December.
You can do it backwards too so you start with the $52 and work your way down to $1 by the time the holidays roll around, you will be putting the finishing touches on your savings rather than the bulk payments.
Another way to do it is to put aside $50 out every week, in other words or $200/month into your savings box or container.
There are plenty of ways for a painless way to save money for a year. We may not save a lot of money but this amount, no matter how much can help us for the Christmas season.
I am going to try it and hope you do the same too. Starting is easy, finishing is the challenge. So good luck to us.
This is interesting! Doing it backwards might work for me! :D Geez!
